Built by hand, built to last, and priced fair — the way a soldier would do it.
Made to last. Priced fair.
Silver Star Hats started the way a lot of good things do — because something wasn't good enough. After I got my first real felt hat, I ordered a rack to store it right. It showed up wrapped in barbed wire that tore my jeans, with screws so short it broke in my hands before it ever hit the wall.
The soldier in me said: let's build our own. So I did. A friend saw it and wanted one, then his friend. Before long I'd built a rack for a whole crew — and I started building hats to match. Racks first, then hats, all under one name.
That name comes from the Silver Star I was awarded in the Army — and it's the standard I hold every hat and every rack to. Everything's made by hand, made to last, and priced fair. You can earn an honest living without cutting corners, or cutting into the next person.
— James SwinneyFounder · U.S. Army, Silver Star RecipientEvery hat is shaped and finished by hand to be exactly what you want — not close, exactly. I learned that the hard way, and now it's the whole point.
Where it all started. My first store-bought rack broke before it hit the wall — mine don't. Every rack is built solid enough to shake, toss, and hang for good.
Tell me what you're after — a custom hat, a hat rack, or both — and I'll get right back to you. Prefer to talk it through? Give me a call.
